If I Could Fly

By Eunice Gedeon

If I had wings I'd fly
I'd fly ashore to freedom
Out of imprisonment,
To the land of the free.
I want to be away from misery.
Hear the birds sing.
I long to feel the wind blow.
The sound of the trumpets.
The color of the sky.
I want to be free.
To strive for the stars.
Away from the flames
Away from hate
And away from this inner
pain that I face.
If I had wings I'd fly.
I'd fly to the sky,
away from life
and away from troubles,
tribulations, and misery.
