Hi children, this is Ma's speaking. I want you to check out "The Dress Lodger,"
by Sheri Holman. It's about the experiences of a 15-year-old prostitute, a
surgeon and a journalist to explore the underside of 19th-century medicine and
the Industrial Revolution. This novel seems to be well-researched and is set in
a quarantine English port during a cholera epidemic in 1831. Like my favorite
singer Marc Anthony, says, "Sheck it out!"

Hi children, this is Ma's speaking. Daddy Diamond received a letter from M.
Jones, the 28th of October which is related to Health. So as she saids, "Please
pass this on," so here it goes:
A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom at their Maui, Hawaii location.
When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom was really filthy, and
that he had noticed dried mouse or rat droppings in some areas. A couple of days
later, he stared feeling like he was coming down with stomach flu, achy joints,
headache, and he started throwing up. He went to bed and never really got up.
Within two days he was so ill and weak.
His blood sugar count was down to 66 and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He
was rushed to the emergency at Pali Momi, where they said he was suffering from
massive organ failure! He died shortly before midnight. None of us would have
ever made the connection between his job and his death, but the doctors
specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat or
mouse droppings at any time. They said there is a virus (much like Hanta virus)
that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings.
Once dried, these droppings are like dust, and can easily be or ingested if a
person is not careful to wash their hands and face thoroughly, or wear
protective gear. An autopsy was conducted to verify the doctors' suspicions.
This is why it is extremely important to ALWAYS carefully rinse off the tops of
any canned sodas or foods, and wipe off pasta packaging, tops of cereal boxes,
etc.!!!!!
Almost everything you buy in a supermarket was stored in a warehouse at one time
or another, and stores themselves often have rodents. Most of us remember to
wash vegetables and fruit but never think of boxes and cans.
The ugly truth.......even the most modern, upper-class, super store has rats and
mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does. Whenever you buy any canned soft
drink, please make sure that you wash the top with running water and soap, or if
not available, drink with a straw.
A family friend's friend died after drinking a can of soda! A brief
investigation by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta discovered the cause.
The top was encrusted with dried rat's urine which is toxic and obviously
lethal!!!!
Canned drinks and other food stuffs are stored in warehouses and containers that
are usually infested with rodents and then get transported to the retail outlets
without being properly cleaned.
Please forward this message to the people you care about.

Children...I'm home!
What's on the plate tonight?
TV Novels? Served with what?
Served with a side dish of "based on the novel by...."
What an opening. Check out the dialogue! And you are all right! It stinks,
doesn't it? It just like those TV or movie series, based upon a novel which in
99.9% of the cases, has nothing to do with the original novel. It's just the
name they use. It's just the name.
I went to my favorite movie theater to see the movie, based on the New York
Times bestselling author, Cathy Cash Spellman, "Bless the Child." The movie
wasn't so bad. So I decided to read the book. No surprise. Black was white,
sister was daughter, and instead of the butler who did it, it's the nanny, so
far (still reading).
I'm wondering if Hollywood or any writer of novels can become a little original
about religion. You children know what I mean. Go back to the movie, "The
Exorcist." What religion did they hit? And when they want to "bump off" a pope
in "The Godfather" movie, what religion did they hit? Give this religion a
break. Hollywood and novelists, please get a little creative. Oh by the way, I
am NOT of this religion!

Hi, children...this is Ma speaking. On this first issue of TVOTB.com, I am
reading Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt, for the second time, by yours
truly...Ma.
To that little lady that takes the train every day (you know who you are) and to
all the other fine folks I have recommended this book to, I hope you have
enjoyed this excellent story of being an immigrant, and also surviving all of
life's harsh realities.
P.S.: Frank McCourt, are you reading this?
On a lighter note, the following issues on the web page, I hope will be cheery
and will include reviews on books and all of the other goodies that you read
about on Ma's Book Corner. Until then, Ma said, "Take pages in a night, and
tomorrow visit my site." Till then:
